Lu Yao was born in Qingjian County, Northern region of Shaanxi Province on December 3, 1949, his original name was Wang Weiguo. In 1970, he began to use Lu Yao as his pseudonym. He was a famous contemporary Chinese writer and a representative of countryside literature, whose works aroused great echoes in the Chinese literature circles from the 1980s to 1990s. In 1982, he published his novel Life, which caused a sensation across the country. In 1988, he completed the trilogy of his novel Ordinary World and won the Third Mao Dun Literature Prize in 1991.Later, he died of liver disease at the age of 42.
