Book Introduction
As an old Beijinger, the author Yang Cheng has various personal experiences in this city. In this book, the author uses the imagery of dim moonlight to remind people of the ancient capital, telling the stories happened in which and reproducing the customs of festivals in the past, the toil of the craftsmen as well as Beijingers' colorful lives in the old-brand stores, commercial streets, restaurants, teahouses and opera buildings. Also, the book also contains dozens of paintings selected from Sheng Xishan's Life and People in Old Beijing, unfolding a scroll of lives in the old Beijing. Basically, the author tries to explore the continuing life and roots of the old Beijing from stories, legends, customs, habits and from memories, thoughts and words of previous generations.
