On September 2, the first issue of the list of recommendations from the president and editor-in-chief of the 10th Beijing Reading Festival in 2020 was announced. Beijing Publishing Group's Beijing Culture Series, Red Culture Series, published by Beijing Publishing House, Growing towards the Sun, published by Beijing October Literature and Art Publishing House, and the Cat Sanya Goes up to the Roof, published by Beijing Children's Publishing House, were selected.

The president and editor-in-chief recommendation activity was guided by the Office of the Leading Group of the 10th Beijing Reading Festival, and organized and implemented by Jingban Beijing Education Culture Media Co., Ltd. The activity collected more than 230 books published since October 2019 from more than 20 publishing organizations across the country. After the selection and deliberation of experts from academia, critics, publishing industry, professional media, and scientific research institutes, 16 works that inspire thinking, reflect art and are readable were finally selected, which effectively provided the public with guidance and help in "reading good books".
