On June 23, the launching ceremony of the "October Writer’ s Residence ‧Xishuangbanna" was held at Jiuluma Academy, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. Lü Yalan, executive dean of the October Literature Institute, Ma Yuan, well-known writer and professor at Tongji University, Liang Hong, well-known writer and professor at Renmin University of China, Zhang Ning, well-known literary critic and professor at Beijing Normal University, and famous writers Hong Feng, Can Xue and Su Tong attended the ceremony.

Lü Yalan introduced the positioning and function of the "October Writer's Residence", and traced the relations between Ma Yuan and the October Literature Institute. This is the first time that the October Literature Institute explored its cooperation with a Writer’ s Academy, and it is the first place of residence for October writers personally funded by a writer. This way of cooperation makes it easier for writers to exchange ideas and deepen friendship.

Jiuluma Academy is a courtyard built by Ma Yuan in Nannuo Mountain, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, it took Ma Yuan seven years of hard work to complete the building. It was completed and officially opened in June 2018. Liang Hong became the first writer in residence.
