Book Series Chic Beijing – Popular Photogenic Spots in Beijing
Second Volume
The photogenic spots in the second volume of Chic Beijing are introduced following the time sequence instead of spatial sequence. The 24 hours in a day are divided into 12 double-hour periods. There are photogenic spots fit for each double-hour period, from dawn and noon to dusk and midnight. Their distinctive characteristics are also detailed in elegant essays. The chic side of Beijing is naturally fused with the city’s time-honored traditions.
Feng Yuanzheng, vice president of Beijing People’s Art Theatre, Xu Zechen, a winner of Mao Dun Literature Prize, and many young readers, “read” Beijing by “walking in it” from the first-person perspective. The 35 essays in the book interpret what they have seen, and draw close the relationship between Beijing and readers.
Mo Yan, vice president of China Writers Association and Nobel Prize winner for Literature, sings high praise of Chic Beijing as follows: In this book recording the happenings during the 12 two-hour periods of Beijing, there is a livelier and entirely new “chic Beijing” that has never been discovered!
The layout of the second volume remains the same as that of the first volume, which combines text, pictures and videos. Readers can not only read essays that arouse their interest in Beijing, but also watch the videos of the photogenic spots by scanning QR codes, and learn about practical tips about visiting the popular places of interest.
A number of online and offline activities are also held for promoting the second volume of Chic Beijing, such as “Children’s picture • chic Beijing”, “Visiting popular places of interest in chic Beijing”, “Voice your opinion • chic Beijing” and “Voice of live streamers • chic Beijing” on “Beijing Time” App. In addition, the program “Visiting popular bookstores in chic Beijing” was also live streamed on the World Book and Copyright Day.
