On April 21, "Ordinary World, Brilliant Life" – the launch of the Malay version of Ordinary World and the overseas sharing event of Lu Yao’s works, co-sponsored by Beijing Publishing Group and the Malaysian Chinese Culture Center was held simultaneously in China and Malaysia with the form of "online + offline". Among the attendees were Datuk Ma Hanshun, Deputy Minister of Education of Malaysia, Datuk Wu Hengcan, Chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Center, Wang Hua, Second Inspector of the Import and Export Administration of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee, Li Dengxin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of Beijing Federation of Overseas Chinese, Dong Dianyi, Deputy director of the State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center of Beijing Municipality, Kang Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Beijing Publishing Group, and representatives of Malaysian book donors, principals of local Chinese schools and cultural and educational figures. Editors and translators from both sides attended the sharing event together. The event was presided over by Zhou Hao, member of the party committee, director and deputy general manager of the group.

The translation of Ordinary World － one of China's best-selling literary works － into Malay is a milestone of the cooperation between the two sides and a sign of the deepening of cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia. It is believed that this work that vividly reflects contemporary Chinese social life and deeply portrays human nature can resonate with Malaysian readers, thereby enhancing the overseas influence of Chinese literature and art.
Dong Dianyi, deputy director of the State-owned Cultural Assets Administration Center of Beijing Municipality, congratulated the two sides for the joint publication and distribution of the Malay version of Ordinary World, and looked forward to strengthening the translation cooperation of outstanding Chinese and Malaysian literary works in the future, and promoting Chinese literature and Chinese culture to the world.

In the future, the group will leverage on Malaysia’s regional advantages to extend the areas of cooperation in Southeast Asia and contribute to building Beijing a new highland for international civilization exchanges and mutual learning, so that China’s excellent literary works can be shared with readers around the world."

Wang Hua, second-level inspector of the Import and Export Administration of the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee, and Kang Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Beijing Publishing Group, as the Chinese representatives, jointly unveiled the Malay version of Ordinary World with the Malaysian representatives in the form of online video. Li Dengxin, vice president and secretary general of Beijing Federation of Overseas Chinese, and Datuk Wu Hengcan, chairman of the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Center, exchanged books on behalf of China and Malaysia respectively, and the Chinese representative read aloud the handwritten gratitude letter from Lu Mingming, Lu Yao’s daughter.

The Malaysian Chinese Cultural Center donated books to Beijing Publishing Group. On behalf of China, Li Dengxin, vice chairman and secretary-general of Beijing Federation of Overseas Chinese, presented the book The Complete Works of Lu Yao (Collector's Edition), which was signed by Lu Yao, to Malaysia. Lu Mingming, Lu Yao's daughter, wrote a gratitude letter.

The editors of both sides shared the story behind Ordinary World. Ordinary World, once known as "the jewel in the crown of Mao Dun Literature Prize", is a million-character novel created by Chinese writer Lu Yao that fully depicts the social life of contemporary Chinese urban and rural society. It has become an immortal classic and inspiration for thousands of young people. The spirit conveyed in the book is exactly the conscious inheritance of the Chinese nation's spiritual tradition of "striving for self-improvement and virtuousness" over thousands of years.

At present, Beijing Publishing Group has exported Ordinary World in Serbian, Arabic, Turkish, Japanese and Vietnamese, which has had a positive and extensive influence. After the Malay version of Ordinary World came out, it has been strongly praised and recommended by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the business community, politicians, businesspeople and overseas Chinese. Malaysian organizations have donated the book to 200 middle schools in Malaysia, so that people can perceive China's development and changes more truly by reading it. The Malaysian Chinese Cultural Center will promote the spread of the book more widely by holding community lectures and recommending it libraries of universities. In addition, the two sides will also actively participate in the "Mutual Translation Project of Asian Classics" and translate and publish another Mao Dun Literature Prize-winning work The Jade King – History of A Chinese Muslim Family in Malay.
