On October 1, 2019, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was celebrated in a solemn way. The grand celebration activities fully demonstrated the brilliant achievements of New China since its foundation 70 years ago. The Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Committee took the lead in organizing the compilation of The People’s Republic of China at 70: A Pictorial Celebration (the Pictorial Celebration). Recently, this book has been officially published by Beijing Publishing Group and will be distributed nationwide.

The Pictorial Celebration centers on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and focuses on the grand occasion on the National Day. It was complied with adherence to political guidance and focus on artistic design. More than 400 photos were carefully selected according to the criteria of "grand scenes, distinct themes and artistic appeal”.  The book begins with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Speech at the Grand Rally in Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and photos about his attendance at the celebration activities. The main body consists of four chapters: “Staying True to Our Mission”, “A Strong Military and a Strong China”, “National Rejuvenation” and “Embracing the Future”. In the first chapter of “Staying True to Our Mission”, 31 photos show the spectacle of the grand rally, manifesting the grandeur of the national ceremony. In the second chapter of “A Strong Military and a Strong China”, 120 photos are arranged following the sequence of the military parade and the combinations of combat organization and scene themes. These pictures fully demonstrate the openness, self-confidence, peace and inclusiveness of China as a big country and the vigor and mettle of Chinese soldiers in the new era. The third chapter “National Rejuvenation” has 120 photos, arranged according to the sequence of the mass parade and showing different parade squares in both close shot and distant view. The photos show the brilliant achievements of New China in various periods and features of the new era. The 120 photos in the fourth chapter “Embracing the Future” are about the gala activities, including themed performances, central gala performances, mass gala and fireworks show. These photos show the jubilant festive atmosphere of mass people gathering and celebrating.

The design of Pictorial Celebration highlights Chinese elements and National Day symbols, reflects Chinese spirit, Chinese culture, and Chinese power, and is worth of both reading and collection. The book, with rich illustrations and texts, is authoritative in content. With exquisite well-arranged and double-spread panorama pictures and close-ups with great visual impactful displays, from different perspectives and in an all-around way, the gorgeous scenes, wonderful moments and moving pictures of the military parades, mass parades and galas celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
